Four Women Step Forward to Lead in Pigeon Township
Four women formally filed for local office on Tuesday demonstrating the growing presence of women in leadership roles within Pigeon Township government.
Ruby McGlown, who was appointed to serve as Pigeon Township Trustee after the departure of Mariama Wilson and has since been carrying out the responsibilities of the office, filed for election to continue in the role. She is joined by Shirley Baker, Garnetta Esters, and Connie Robinson-Blair, who filed to run for seats on the Pigeon Township Advisory Board.
The Township Trustee serves as the township’s chief administrator, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, managing township assistance programs, and proposing the township budget to meet the needs of residents.
The Township Advisory Board provides fiscal oversight and accountability, reviewing and approving the budget, monitoring spending, and serving as a check and balance to ensure responsible use of public funds.
Together, these roles shape how essential services and resources are delivered at the community level.
By stepping forward to serve, McGlown, Baker, Esters, and Robinson highlight the critical role women continue to play in guiding local government and strengthening civic leadership in the area.
