Residents will have an opportunity to hear directly from candidates running in the Democratic primary for Indiana’s 8th Congressional District during an upcoming community forum on Saturday, April 11.

The event, hosted by the League of Women Voters of Southwest Indiana (LWVSWIN) and the Evansville Branch NAACP, will take place at the C.K. Newsome Community Center. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., with the forum scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Organizers say all four Democratic candidates are expected to participate:

  • Mary Allen
  • Mario Foradori
  • Christopher Rector
  • Tabitha Zeigler

The forum comes ahead of the Primary Election on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, giving voters an opportunity to hear directly from candidates before heading to the polls. The seat is currently held by Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Messmer, who is running for re-election, making this primary an important step in determining who will challenge him in the general election.

The 8th Congressional District representative serves in the U.S. House of Representatives, where they introduce legislation, serve on committees, and represent the interests of their district at the federal level.

Community members are encouraged to attend, learn more about the candidates, and engage in the democratic process.
