Labor Day weekend brought communities together across the region through music, food, family and fellowship. Our Times stopped by two cultural gatherings—Family Day in the Park in Evansville and Groovin on the Green in Owensboro—to capture some of the people and moments that filled the holiday weekend around town.

Family Day in the Park | Evansville
Families, community organizations, local businesses and neighbors from around town gathered at Bayard Park for Family Day in the Park, an annual celebration featuring food, activities, vendors and opportunities to connect. The event also marked the debut of the Evansville African American Museum’s newly donated food truck and the return of its donut burger tradition.

Groovin on the Green | Owensboro, Kentucky
Music, food and community filled the lawn during the fifth annual Groovin on the Green, a signature event of the Northside Neighborhood Alliance. The celebration brought residents together with live entertainment, featuring Job B, food trucks and nonprofit vendors while highlighting an organization whose year-round work includes community gardens, Stop the Violence efforts and African American murals throughout Owensboro.
