Things to know about CenterPoint Energy’s new billing system
The transition to CenterPoint Energy’s new billing system began on July 2nd for customer in Southwest Indiana. Customers will receive a new account number and will experience a new online interface. The update includes a new bill format, easy program enrollments, and more self-service options. Customer service representatives will be available to address questions or concerns during the transition. On or after July 2, call the CenterPoint customer service number at, 1-800-227-1376.
Important tips for customers:
- Customers will receive a new account number and should look for it on the upper right corner of their bill, online on the left side of the dashboard when logged into their account, or by calling CenterPoint customer service.
- Customers with automatic bill payment arrangements through their financial institutions need to inform their institutions of their new account number in July.
- Customers receiving payment assistance through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) do not need to take any action.
- Reporting an electric outage via text message and through the website will be temporarily unavailable, but customers enrolled in Power Alert Service® (PAS) will be alerted via phone call, text, or email when a service interruption is detected.
