Meet Joann Hunter, Community Outreach Specialist for United Way

Joann Hunter has recently joined United Way of Southwestern Indiana as the Community Outreach Specialist. She may be a familiar face in the community, having served as a youth services assistant librarian at Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library where she worked closely with patrons to advance technology skills and developed educational programs for families of all ages and backgrounds. Hunter also volunteers, leading the National African American Parent Involvement Day, a family engagement day organized through the group And How Are the Children and an Advisory board member for the Center City Initiative Faith pillar. At United Way, Hunter will build relationships with Evansville’s vulnerable populations and connect them to meaningful, high-quality resources.

“I love connecting people with resources they need to thrive, especially communities that have been historically overlooked or marginalized. That’s why I am so hopeful for this new role! I’ve already met so many great people and look forward to meeting with more. Together, we can build on the passion and genius that already exists in the Evansville region and truly Live United!”
