Faithfully Fit program to launch this summer at Memorial Baptist Church
Greg Dillard launched Faithfully Fit, a four-session health and wellness series intended to help participants gain the skills to improve their health and wellness. Memorial Baptist Church is the host and registration is required.
Memorial Baptist Church will host Faithfully Fit, a four-session summer program designed to encourage healthier living through education, movement, and community. The program will be held in June and July on June 6, June 13, and June 20 from 10am-1pm and July 18, 10am-2pm. Each session offers a different focus while helping participants build practical habits for everyday wellness.
Greg Dillard, the organizer, said Faithfully Fit is motivated by his professional experience and his personal journey. Over the years, he has worked in hospitality and restaurant settings, built a career around food and creativity in the kitchen, and now serves as campus executive chef at the University of Southern Indiana, where he also helps educate students through food-related programs.
Having faced health challenges of his own, including managing hereditary diabetes and high blood pressure through healthier eating, exercise and regular wellness checks, Dillard understands firsthand what many individuals face. “Sometimes people have conditions that are genetic and that, you simply can’t control, but you still must have the knowledge to manage it,” he said. He has also navigated difficult life circumstances, including a period of homelessness. Because of those experiences, he understands how wellness can be affected by more than food choices, emphasizing the impact of mental health on overall well-being. “We all have a story and a journey,” he said.
Dillard’s journey and his faith is what fuels his desire to help others find encouragement and practical support. That desire is reflected in Chef G’s Page, his Facebook community, where he shares his food creations, health ideas and exercise tips with a growing audience. After spending a long period sitting back and staying quiet, Dillard said he felt God telling him it was time to stop sitting and start serving again in this way.
According to Dillard, Faithfully Fit’s first session on June 6th will introduce the program and give participants an opportunity to learn, share, and begin building a foundation for healthier choices. The second session on June 13th will focus on smart shopping, kitchen confidence, and added lessons on etiquette, table setting, and health awareness. The third session on June 20th will center on movement, stretching, and exercises that can be adapted for different ability levels. The final session on July 18th will feature a cooking demonstration that brings the earlier lessons together through food safety, preparation, and nutritious meal ideas.
Dillard hopes Faithfully Fit will give participants tools they can remember and use long after the sessions end while helping strengthen the community. “I want to cast a wide net, and reach people across the area,’ he said. The program is designed for all ages and experience levels. The only requirement is to come with an open mind and willingness to learn. The program is free, but registration is required.
