Harris Can Get the Job Done!
By Rodney Richardson
Can Vice-President Kamala Harris beat Donald Trump if she becomes the official democrat party’s presidential candidate? President Joe Biden announced that he has decided to step down from running for a second term this November after receiving much pressure from high-ranking members of his own party. Latest polls show that most Americans have had concerns about his physical health and mental stamina. After declaring his choice not to seek reelection, he fully endorsed VP Harris as the Democratic contender for the office of US President. Of course, her selection will have to be substantiated by the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on August 19, 2024, pending no other candidate is picked.
The media and all major news sources are already touting Harris as the democratic frontrunner as if they are “taking the ball and running with it.” We all know how media networks can influence the outcome of just about anything as well as political endorsements from powerful congressional men and women. There is also the element of time that weighs in on Biden’s abrupt departure—with only 100 days until ballot boxes go up, there can be no further delays by fiddling around prospecting for other options. Democrats need to fast-track Harris. Why…? She is the other half of the most successful presidency since Obama. She is the only viable person to “finish the job” Biden was campaigning on.
No one else could be in a more perfect position than Kamala to move right on in and clinch the nomination and seize the election–becoming the first woman (of color and race) president of the United States. Democrats and everyone else seriously concerned about the future of our democracy, equality, and judicial system need to throw all their support behind her. She is the one who can win. There is nobody else more qualified or prepared among fellow democrats to continue the work ahead and to carry on the Biden Administration’s legacy. It is a quick strategic move on Joe Biden’s part to instantaneously place Harris in the spotlight as his hopeful replacement.
She would most certainly secure the Black vote, especially from African American women who are the essential core and from Asian Americans as well as the swing votes of Native Americans. We can also anticipate a lot of mudslinging from the MAGA Republicans (and shamefully some people of color) who will do and say everything they are low enough to–in efforts to drag Harris down. Our freedom, civil rights, social security, healthcare, and women’s rights are all at stake with the Republican Project 2025 agenda and Kamala Harris is our hope for women’s healthcare restoration, job growth, education advancement, gun control and to stop the minority oppressive Trump Machine!
