State Rep. Alex Burton is encouraging Evansville residents to attend an upcoming public hearing on utility costs hosted by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC).
The hearing will take place Tuesday, April 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Old National Events Plaza, Exhibit Hall B. Residents will have the opportunity to hear directly from IURC officials and share how rising utility rates are impacting their households.
Burton said high energy costs have placed a growing burden on families and the local economy.
“Our energy costs have been burdensome for more than a decade, and they are negatively impacting our local economy,” Burton said.
The hearing follows actions taken during the 2026 legislative session and is intended to gather public input as state leaders consider next steps.
Burton emphasized the importance of community participation.
“This is an opportunity for our community to be heard,” he said. “It’s important that residents show up and share their experiences.”
