Evansville’s Christmas Parade on North Main had another successful year on Sunday. The parade featured several new amenities this year, including warming stations with free hot chocolate, nutcracker displays painted by local artists, and special menu items offered by nearby restaurants. Despite struggling for participants and volunteers during the parade’s four-year hiatus, involvement is now stronger than ever.

Linda Johnson, previously the parade coordinator and now entry coordinator, has been involved since 2013. Johnson believes the parade plays a big role in bringing people into Jacobsville and highlighting revitalization efforts. “Even though it’s one day, for a few hours, it still makes a difference, and people see that,” she says.

At Hope City Church, Santa’s workshop kicked off ahead of the parade with a line out the door. Kids sent letters to Santa, took pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and enjoyed fun crafts.
