Memorial builds new affordable homes in the Center City

On Friday, June 28th Memorial Community Development Corporation celebrated the completion of three new homes and the breaking ground of an additional home in the Memorial Villas single family home project. ​ The event was attended by Kolbi Jackson of the City of Evansville’s Department of Metropolitan Development, Deputy Mayor Lindsay Locasto, Rev. ​ Adrian M. Brooks, Sr., Councilman Alex Burton and a host of neighbors and community partners. The Memorial Villas project aims to help families build wealth by providing an affordable option to purchase a high-quality home while providing safe and decent housing.  ​The completion of these homes brings the total number of single-family units built in the area by the organization to 27. ​

Partners and collaborators for the Memorial Villas project include the City of Evansville, City of Evansville Land Bank, German American Bank, Old National Bank, HOPE of Evansville, Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis, Ace Construction, and Memorial Baptist Church. ​If you are interested in building a home with Memorial, contact the housing office at 812-424-8627.

The Memorial Villas standard home is 3-bedrooms with laminate LVT flooring, energy efficient appliances, washer/dryer hookup, 2 full baths, custom countertops, energy efficient windows and insulation.

Cutting the ribbon on Taylor Ave for Memorial’s Lease-Purchase Homes. Families will pay monthly rent for 20 years. At the end of the term, the house will be deeded to them, and no additional payments will be required.
