Children’s book addresses bullying within a family context
Latifah A. Hameen, an author with 10 published books, has recently released her first children’s book, “Aleem’s New Challenge.” Geared towards ages 7-10, the story follows Aleem, who, influenced by his father’s anger issues, unintentionally perpetuates a cycle of bullying within his own family. The narrative unfolds as the father becomes aware of the impact of his behavior during a family meeting, prompting him to take responsibility, seek counseling, and prevent further damage to his family.
In 2007, Hameen founded the non-profit organization Healthy Positive Choices (HPC), aiming to educate teens and adults about the dangers of domestic abuse. Through educational tools, scholarships, and certification courses, HPC strives to empower individuals to identify, detect, and address abuse, fostering the strength to break the cycle from the start.
Hameen generously gives back to the Black community by donating a percentage of her book sales. HPC awards an educational scholarship to a domestic violence survivor at its yearly banquet. Latifah A. Hameen, a Certified Life and Relationship Coach, Certified Domestic Abuse Awareness Trainer, Self-Talk Trainer, Author, Poet, Educator, and Motivational Speaker. “Aleem’s New Challenge,” is available for purchase on Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
